Safer Internet Day (SID) is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. Each year, Childnet creates educational resources to help schools, youth groups, police services, libraries, and others run fun and engaging activities. These activities cover online issues experienced by young people aged 3 to 18..
I created a visual identity for the 2025 campaign, "Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online." I drew inspiration from Y2K pop-ups, a style that resonates with young people while also being familiar to parents and teachers, to effectively capture the concept of online scams. My primary goal was to ensure this campaign had a visually distinct identity compared to my previous work with the Safer Internet Day.
This project required creating an engaging visual identity suitable for ages 3 to 18 and developing diverse resources. These included worksheets, materials for group discussions and assemblies, and supporting presentation slides. Resources were also specifically designed for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN). sure maximum accessibility, I also designed all resources in Welsh and Irish.
To promote the day, I produced a mix of animated and still social media posts. I also developed a comprehensive campaign report, detailing its research and methodology.
This campaign led to over 160,000 downloads of the resources, with 96% of educators stating the resources enhanced young people’s learning about something new. Furthermore, 100% of educators confirmed they would participating in the Safer Internet Day campaign to others.
