Safer Internet Day (SID) is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. Each year, Childnet creates educational resources to help schools, youth groups, police services, libraries, and others run fun and engaging activities. These activities cover online issues experienced by young people aged 3 to 18.
I created a visual identity based on the 2024 theme, "Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online, " Using signposts, navigation lines, and imagery from previous technologies, I aimed to encapsulate the idea of navigating change in the online world.
This project required creating an engaging visual identity suitable for ages 3 to 18, involving the development of diverse resources. These included illustrated interactive stories, worksheets, materials for group discussions and assemblies, and supporting presentation slides as well as a mix of animated and still social media posts to help promote the day. Resources were also specifically designed for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and Additional Learning Needs. To ensure maximum accessibility, I also designed all resources into Welsh and Irish.
The campaign media reached 600,000,000 people , with over 2,000 pieces of coverage and the 96,000 Education Resources downloads. With 85% feedback stating the resources helped to reinforce student learning.
