NHS Campaigns

Over the past few years, I have worked on a many campaigns for the primary care sector within the NHS and I have decided to collate them together into one page. One of the main issues I have always found with practices is the variety of boring posters in waiting rooms I’ve always looked to create things that were fun or eye-catching

NHS Flu Jab Campaign

Challenge: Design a poster and video to promote a borough-wide flu vaccination campaign, specifically addressing the challenge of reaching high-risk groups.

Solution: I developed a campaign around the concept of "spread," visually represented by children's handprints. This imagery was intentionally "touchy and messy" to convey how easily the flu is transmitted, especially by children. The campaign included posters for GP practices and a short animated video for waiting rooms and libraries, highlighting the importance of vaccination for vulnerable patients.

NHS Late-Hours Service: Doodle Campaign

Design, Illustration, Client Liaison

Challenge: Create an eye-catching poster to promote a free coloring activity for children in the out-of-hours service, aiming to stand out from typical, often boring, clinic posters.

Solution: To grab attention, I created a poster that mimics a child's drawing. The playful, hand-drawn style immediately connects with the target audience and contrasts sharply with standard clinical designs. The poster effectively communicates the availability of crayons and paper while adding a fun, welcoming element to the waiting area.

Retinal Screening Academic Poster

Design, Illustration, Client Liaison

Challenge: Design a compelling academic poster for a Diabetes UK conference to present the results of an NHS retinal screening initiative.

Solution: I created a poster that stood out in a sea of academic materials by using an abstract, artistic interpretation of a retina. This approach maintained the scientific integrity of the subject while transforming the poster into a visually captivating piece that drew in attendees and supported the research findings.

Practice Recruitment Campaign

Design, Illustration, Client Liaison

Challenge: Design a recruitment poster for the Aberfeldy GP Practice in Tower Hamlets, which is geographically isolated and jokes about being a "village in the middle of East London."

Solution: I embraced the practice's unique location by creating a recruitment poster that parodied vintage travel advertisements. The design portrays a "village life," featuring local landmarks like the iconic Balfron Tower and resident geese to give it a local, charming feel. The campaign successfully captures the practice's unique identity, making it feel like a close-knit community rather than just another clinic.
